Enough has been posted in that Trailer thread, I figured this deserved a fresh start. Hopefully that's alright

Saw it tonight in IMAX, which is glorious to say the least

Best superhero movie to this date
Best villain portrayal, best Joker, truly portrayed Batman's greatest enemy
Ledger deserves something for what he did seriously
Probably the most complex story a superhero movie will see until possibly another Chris Nolan Batman movie (if that ever happens), also best story for a comic based movie
How was it NOT rated R?

10/10 even with Bale still somewhat bothering me with his Batman voice

Maybe people finally started to wonder whether the people of gotham really were as stupid as they appeared to be by not being able to tell that Bruce Wayne and Batman sound 100% alike.

Maybe that terrible voice for Batman that Beil uses is an attempt to make Bruce Wayne sound different from Batman :)

It was probably my only real gripe with the movie.

The Pencil trick was Fucking awesome!

* I saw it today and it blew me away, lot's of plot twists, unpredictable....
* One of the best villain's in a movie ever....
* I just loved how Dark and violent this movie was....

Batman dropping the guy from the balcony, was also very awesome :)

The Joker in a nurse outfit..... priceless

What I want to know is, is this movie really that good, or is it hyped up a bit more then usual because it's got that extra interesting fact that one of it's star actors died before the movie came out?

I just wonder, haven't seen the movie myself yet..

It exceeded the hype for me, mainly because I didn't realize how dark it was going to be (still made it unexpected in a lot of ways). It has been getting a lot of praise as everyone knows, but I think how close this movie is to an R rating is pretty understated

My review is spoiler free. ;)

I've literally just got back from the cinema having watched the Dark Knight and all I can say is ... WOW.

It is one of the best films I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of films. It had everything, and I couldn't take my eyes off it. The surprise twists and turns just kept you enthralled, and Ledger's performance as Joker was so scarily real. Just forget about the fact that Ledger is dead - that is the best performance I have ever seen, and i'd be shocked if anything ever beat that. It just shows what a shame it is to lose someone with his acting ability. The biggest compliment I could pay his performance is that I believed him - I believed that the Joker was a real person. If he doesn't win all the awards possible this year, it is a disgrace. Bale was no slouch though, and provided probably the best Batman performance I have ever seen. In fact, the whole acting outfit was just sensational and they all helped bring the movie to life. I could go on for days about this film because it was that good.

Easily the king of superhero movies, and one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time. Nothing beats Lord of the Rings for me but this is certainly in my top 10 favourite films already, if not top 5 (Lord of the Rings trilogy counts as one for me).

10/10. Sensational.

Wow.. Easily one of the greatest movies I've ever seen.

A lot of people suspected that Ledger's performance would be overhyped especially due to his passing, but his performance was absolutely incredible and, dare I say, legendary. It's really a damn shame that he wont have the opportunity to continue what he started with his stunning performance in Dark Knight.

Every single time he was on screen the movie just always had a feeling that it was much bigger than anyone coming into it could have expected.

The movie is actually intelligent. Intelligent in a way that I'm willing to bet no other Superhero movie will ever achieve in our lifetime. This movie is more intelligent than a lot of other movies would like to be that don't fall into the superhero movie genre. This movie can fit so easily fit into another genre like a crime drama where people who have no interest or knowledge whatsoever in the batman series can come away from this movie totally impressed and like a rabid fanboy eager for the movie to hit dvd or a Hi-Def format.

The movie touches on so many important things that one could say affects us in today's world. It touches on terrorism, corruptness to torture and on the concept that some people are so utterly unreasonable that there is no way to appease them or even meet them half way. No way to ever really fully satisfy them and so they just instead wish to bring chaos to everything.

I'm impressed out of my mind right now. I honestly didn't expect the movie to end up being as complex as it was or to touch on as many things as it did. Joker didn't come off as your average criminal, he really did come off as the perfect benchmark for what a criminal should be. They did the joker's character proud. Prouder than even Jack Nicholson managed to do which is something I honestly didn't expect. Not that Nicholson's Joker was lacking or anything it was downright impressive, but the portrayal of Joker in this movie is every bit as authentic, but more with the times and far more sinister.

I also have every bit as much praise for Harvey Dent's portrayal in this movie. It's just an all around incredible movie. This movie, it's director and it's cast deserves serious oscar nods. Major movie awards won't be able to just brush this superhero movie aside cause it's that damn good. I never thought it would live up to the hype like this.

Iron Man has been shoved FAR and I do mean FAR into second place as far as the best superhero movies are concerned. The more I saw of Joker in this movie the more I stopped to myself and thought, wow this guy really wont have a chance to continue this. This will be the last we see of this exact joker. I don't know if there is anyone they could hope to get that would match Ledger's performance.

Yea, this movie should have most definitely been rated R. How the hell they swung a pg-13 rating I'll never know.

I will, by all the comments from IMDB and different sites really, seems to be one of the best movies for this year.
They showed Batman Begins on TV for like 2-4 days ago, good thing because I didn't remember exactly how it ended.

The movie starts 14:15 so it's gonna be good.

I will post my impression of what I thought of it when I get back.

Movie of the year!

Damn it was AWESOME!
Joker's scenes was my favorite thru the entire movie, man this Heath deliver, was amazing, and funny as hell, great stuff.

There is only one thing I didn't like about it...Bales's voice as Batman, he overdoes it to have that dark gritty voice.
But there are times where it fits, and sometimes no.
But Bale delivered as usual!

Now...what is the release date on Blu-Ray!? :P

Yea I agree with Bale's voice. It's very badly overdone at times, but then there are times when it fits really well.

He doesn't need to try so hard to sound different. He can just speak with a more serious tone like he does when he's only around Alfred and it would be mission accomplished.

I don't think we'll ever see a villain performance like this again. There was something very real and scary about Joker's character in this movie - everyone involved with that really did an excellent job. As unfortunate as it sounds though, I think Heaths passing aided this. Not only were we seeing one of the best acted / well written villains ever, we knew that the actor that played him had already died and that made it even more creepy (for me at least).

I do still hope he gets an award though, he really made the film.

No doubt about it, his passing definitely aided all of the mystique around the movie, but I'm proud to say that his passing isn't a crouch that his performance ended up needing. It stood on it's own two fight and I came away extremely impressed.

Who can even play the joker next time around? I think Johnny Depp or Daniel Day Lewis would do an incredible job with the joker role to be honest. Those 2 just really strike me as very capable actors that could play the joker just as impressively.

Haha at the pencil trick, so damn awesome "and now it is gone" haha, freaking hilarious.

But yeah for me I knew before going to watch it that Heath as Joker would be the best part of the movie for movie, the performance the quotes...etc. everything was just great.
And I have yet to see another actor to play a villain this damn good!

I agree. I definitely got that feeling throughout the movie that I don't want anyone else playing the role, but maybe I'll have to just up and accept that the show must go on?

Those 2 I think would do a fantastic job in their own right even if they aren't like Ledger's Joker. Danial Day Lewis was the Oil guy from There Will Be Blood. I think he would create an equally legendary Joker. Johnny Depp.. he just seems born for the role of joker and if there was any doubt about that before I think he proved his versatility in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Yep, there are many amazing quotes in the movie especially Harvey Dents line about you either become a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain?

Then there was some really good quotes I believe from Gordon and a number of others. The movie is a quote machine. Lets not forget what Harvey said to that Mob guy after the incident with the you know what in the court room.

still have to wait until the 21st to enjoy this film here in Austria, it should have hit Ciné tomorrow, but got postponed for three weeks without any reason ...

... and though I haven't seen it yet, I'm a 100% sure that Heath ledger will get an Oscar for his performance.
